The Barbering Sector offers opportunities in employment, self-employment and further training. Demand continues for skilled barbers with strong practical, customer service and consultation skills. This certificate provides an introductory foundation in basic barbering techniques, supporting progression to further qualifications or employment.
Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for this course are:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 (E) or above including English and maths
- Assessment and interview
- Anything else relevant or desired
If required, you will study GCSE or Functional Skills English and/or maths alongside your course so you can progress to the next level.
What will I study?
This course consists of the following modules:
- Follow Health and Safety Practice in the salon
- Client consultation for hair services
- Cut hair using barbering techniques
- Cut facial hair

Enrichment

Learners will take part in a range of Enrichment and Employer Engagement (EEP) activities, including work experience opportunities, industry guest speakers, barbering demonstrations, visits to local employers, skills competitions and college events/fashion shows. These activities will help learners build confidence, develop industry awareness and apply their barbering skills in realistic settings.
